Forest Sight

Forest Sight quantifies what's at stake in the Forest Service's August 2026 proposal to rescind the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule. A Python data pipeline fetches and analyzes public land-management data region by region — PNW, California, Northern Rockies, Southwest/Great Basin, and Alaska — alongside US-wide totals. It models 5- and 10-year what-if scenarios for habitat loss and invasive-plant spread if roadless protections are lifted. The pipeline builds a static site from the processed data, published via GitHub Pages. Built to make a dense federal rulemaking proposal legible at a glance, region by region.
